In the meantime, <\/em>InnoSportLab de Tongelreep<\/strong> facilitated tests <\/strong>for these young athletes. These tests took place in the training pool as a part of the talent identification & development project of Aylin Post.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This project is a cooperation <\/strong>of KNZB<\/a>, RUG\/UMCG and InnoSportLab de Tongelreep <\/a>(ISLT<\/strong>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n ISLT <\/strong>brought together a group of workers and volunteers to perform these measurements <\/strong>to collect data of the swimmers, which will be used to gain insight in the development<\/strong> of the Dutch junior swimmers<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The pool, in which the measurements were taken, was divided into several sections<\/strong>. This was done in order to make the turnaround <\/strong>time as short as possible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n First, they had to be registered <\/strong>in the system. Then the NJK swimmers<\/strong> approached the first section<\/strong>, in which the InnoSportLab representatives <\/strong>measured their armspan<\/strong>, and their jump height<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Secondly, they headed to another section, in which they had to do a sprint. During this test, the swimmers sprinted 25<\/strong> meters <\/strong>from the middle of the pool. These swims were recorded with a video camera and, as a result, swimming velocity<\/strong>, stroke length and stroke frequency<\/strong> will be calculated.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, after the sprint, the swimmers left the water to get their height <\/strong>and also the hand length<\/strong> measured. When these measurements <\/strong>are over they returned to the swimming stadium<\/strong> to proceed with the competition<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n After some intensive days researcher Aylin Post<\/strong> looked satisfied<\/strong>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201dI think we performed high quality measurements this weekend and welcomed the athletes with a friendly face, which made it a nice experience for them!\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Text by Cristian Graziano Fortes.
