Special guests – Governmental visit in InnoSportLab de Tongelreep

The 25th of March was an important day in the life of the Lab, as special guests came to visit the facilities. Four of them from The House of Representatives – commonly referred to as the Second Chamber – the lower house of the Dutch Parliament.

Triple Olympic champion (4×100 freestyle 2008, 50m & 100m freestyle 2012) Ranomi Kromowidjojo made her appearance for the event as well, who was one of the first successful swimmers working with InnoSportLab. She was also accompanied by Jacco Verhaeren, who used to be her coach at the Dutch National Team.

The program started with a visit around the facility, ending in the heart of InnoSportLab de Tongelreep, where director Roald van der Vliet gave a brief presentation to the audience. He walked us through from the beginning of the project to nowadays, when the swimming complex is responsible for teaching kids, training top swimmers and giving a platform to all those who enjoy swimming.

As the visit was organized by Stijn Steenbakkers and the municipality of Eindhoven to showcase the plans of the city with the National Swimming Center of Tongelreep, the participants headed over to other elite sport facilities in the city to continue their eventful day.
